Jenny Rissveds and Luca Martin Earn Mountain Bike Titles

Jenny Rissveds (Canyon XC Racing) and Luca Martin (Cannondale Factory Racing) secured the 2026 Mountain Bike World Cup (XCO) cross-country overall series titles during the competition's conclusion at Lake Placid Olympic Sites, New York, on October 3, 2026. Both athletes had already confirmed their overall victories prior to the final round, with the only requirement being to complete the race.

The final races for both women and men culminated in sprint finishes after an intense last lap, with dry, sunny conditions prevailing, notably different from the rainy and muddy conditions encountered on the previous day. On October 2, 2026, Martina Berta (Origine Racing) and Martin Vidaurre (Specialized Factory Racing) triumphed in the respective XCC events.

During the women's race, Rissveds found herself distanced early on and finished in 11th place, over two minutes behind winner Sina Frei (Specialized Factory Racing). Frei narrowly defeated Berta in a two-up sprint, stretching her bike to cross the finish line first, with Maxwell taking third place in the race. Rissveds reflected on her performance, stating, "I considered just starting and pulling over to wait for them to lap me, but I thought at least I would try. I wouldn't say I gave up, but I had to settle in halfway through. It was way too fast for me today."

She further commented on the high level of competition, noting, "The level is incredibly high at the moment, and only compared to last year, it's much faster and the racing is a lot tighter. The other teams have done their homework over winter, and that's what we need to do to keep up with them in the coming years."

Rissveds and Martin's overall victories marked significant achievements in the 2026 Mountain Bike season.
