Máximo Quiles Could Win Moto3 Championship in Japan

Máximo Quiles could win the Moto3 championship in Japan if the right conditions are met. He has had an extraordinary season, amassing nine victories out of 15 races in 2026, and he holds a substantial lead in the championship standings with 131 points ahead of his nearest rival. Having missed one race due to a clavicle fracture, he arrives at Motegi poised for his first chance at the title, needing to finish with a lead of 150 points.

To secure the championship at the Japanese Grand Prix, Quiles faces challenges from three other competitors: Álvaro Carpe, David Almansa, and Brian Uriarte. His title hopes rely on specific outcomes:
- If Quiles wins, Carpe must finish 10th or worse, and Almansa and Uriarte must finish 9th or worse.
- If Quiles places second, Carpe must finish 15th or worse, with Almansa and Uriarte needing to finish 14th or worse.
If Quiles finishes third or lower, he would not gain enough points, rendering the results of the other three irrelevant.

Currently, Quiles is in Japan with his Aspar Team teammates David Alonso and Dani Holgado, along with Marco Morelli from Moto3. After a brief stop in China to visit partners at CFMoto, he finds himself reflecting on the opportunity ahead. Despite acknowledging the chance to clinch the championship in Japan, he emphasizes the importance of preparing the bike and focusing on daily progress. "We start the Asian tour after another victory. I know I have my first opportunity to be champion in Japan, but it’s not my main goal. I will keep working with the team to prepare the bike properly. We need to focus on day-to-day and let the moment come when it should," he stated.
