Sarasota, Manatee High School Football's Top Week 7 Performers

In Week 7 of high school football, several notable performances emerged from Sarasota and Manatee counties. Despite many teams being idle during this time, key matchups took place that emphasized individual talents.

Venice suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 20-17 to Raines, where running back Ira Dale Jr. contributed significantly with 127 rushing yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.

Manatee also faced a hard defeat at home against Columbia. In this game, Carter Fraser had to rise to the occasion after injuries affected several team members. He recorded 49 yards on 13 carries and reached the end zone once.

In another encounter, Sarasota Christian celebrated victory against Keswick Christian, with standout Peyton Gray leading the defense. He executed nine tackles, forced a fumble, and recovered another during the 36-15 win.

As part of Cardinal Mooney’s strong performance against Clearwater Central Catholic on October 2, 2026, wide receiver Seneca Hawthorne made a significant contribution with his touchdown reception, while Connail Jackson also reached the end zone during the match.

Despite the individual accolades, the performances often got overshadowed by the final scores of the games. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune aimed to honor these exceptional talents by highlighting their accomplishments each week. The top-performing players, such as those from Venice, Manatee, and Sarasota Christian, revealed their abilities and resilience, contributing not just to the scores but also to their teams' overall competitive spirit.
