Tottenham aims to win Premier League, says club chief

Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham expressed confidence in the club's direction, revealing the ultimate goal to win the Premier League. Spurs recently secured three consecutive victories after a streak of six winless matches. Venkatesham spoke about the club's journey during an appearance on The Sports Agents Podcast, emphasizing their determination to achieve success.
The club faced significant challenges last season, narrowly avoiding relegation during a tumultuous 2025-26 campaign that saw the departure of long-standing chairman Daniel Levy, alongside the dismissals of managers Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor. Roberto De Zerbi took over and ensured the club's survival on the final day of the season. The summer included substantial investment, with 10 new players brought in alongside several notable exits.
Now, Tottenham prepares to face Leeds United on Saturday, riding the momentum of their recent successes. "We’ve had three better results in a row, but there is nothing here where we think, ‘oh we’ve cracked it,’ and we’re right at the start of this journey of where we are going," Venkatesham stated.
He further elaborated on the team's objectives, saying, "If you work for Tottenham, when we talk about being here to win, that means we’re here to win the Premier League. That’s what this football club wants to do. It wants to win the Premier League and it wants to be consistent in the Champions League and ultimately win the Champions League."
When asked about a timeline for achieving these targets, Venkatesham admitted it was impossible to specify, emphasizing the daily focus on striving for success. He also noted the importance of planning for relegation last season, calling it necessary and responsible.
Meanwhile, playmaker Xavi Simons is expected to return to training later this month as he recovers from a severe knee injury sustained back in April, which ruled him out of the concluding stages of Tottenham’s season. Despite the typical nine-month recovery period for anterior cruciate ligament injuries, Simons is reportedly ahead of schedule, and his return to first-team training could happen in late November, providing a significant boost to De Zerbi's squad as the year comes to a close.
