Miyu Yamashita successfully defended her title at the LPGA Maybank Championship, held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The 25-year-old golfer from Japan held off China’s Yan Liu, winning by two strokes to become the first back-to-back champion in Maybank Championship history.
Yamashita finished the tournament with a total of 22-under par after a final round score of 68. She achieved five birdies but recorded a single bogey at the par-4 ninth hole during her nearly flawless performance, leading from the second round onward. After a strong start, Yan Liu remained a competitive contender, shooting a final round of 68 but ultimately finished at 18-under.
Yamashita, the 2025 Women’s Open winner, secured her fifth career title and third of the season on the LPGA Tour after also winning the CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton in August by a wire-to-wire nine-stroke margin. "Today was an especially tough round for me," Yamashita reflected, noting Liu’s distance and power in her shots. "I felt like I couldn't let my guard down for a single moment until the final putt dropped on the 18th."
Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who led after the first round, finished tied for third with amateur Marisa Tojai from Thailand after shooting 69 and 67, respectively. Australia’s Robyn Choi rounded out the top five at 17-under after posting a 69.
The LPGA's schedule continues with the Toto Japan Classic at Omitama, just outside of Tokyo, commencing on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
