Valiant Manchester City Earns Deserved Point in Stalemate with Arsenal
On Sunday at Emirates Stadium, Manchester City held firm to clinch a hard-earned point against formidable opponents Arsenal in the Premier League. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, showcasing Manchester City's resilience on the road.
Manchester City started the match best and took the lead early when Erling Haaland netted in the 9th minute, with an assist by Tijjani Reijnders, making it 1-0.
The equaliser came in extra time, when Gabriel Martinelli found the net for Arsenal, with an assist by Eberechi Eze.
Arsenal are now in second place in the table, while Manchester City are ninth in the league.
"I'm very proud of the team. I must say, the way we played, we dominated them, and I'm very disappointed with the result," Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports.
"We started incredibly well. So dominant again. We were playing in their half, and we didn't allow them to breathe. But in one action, that was very chaotic, because the ball bounces," he added.
"It's difficult to analyse with all that's happened this week. We play games like United and in the Champions League on Thursday and now today. The teams are so powerful in all aspects," Man City boss Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports.
"The resilience - of course, it's so difficult when you're not effective in high pressing and you're not effective in build-up. It's always so tough and so difficult to do it. We made some transitions. I think the result is fair. But in general, Arsenal were better," he added.
Arsenal play Newcastle United on 28 September, West Ham United on 4 October and Fulham (away) on 18 October. Manchester City's next opponents are Burnley on 27 September, Brentford on 5 October and Everton (home) on 18 October.
