Arsenal Takes Commanding Lead in League Following Win Over West Ham United
After securing a 2-0 victory home at Emirates Stadium against West Ham United, Arsenal now find themselves at the top of the Premier League table after seven games played, leading Liverpool by one point. West Ham United occupies the 19th spot in the league standings.
The matchup remained goalless until the 38th minute when Declan Rice put Arsenal ahead.
In the 67th minute, Bukayo Saka increased the lead for Arsenal.
It was West Ham United's fourth game in a row without a win.
"Arsenal put us against the ropes. Many parts of the game we weren't really able to go out and run. In parts of the game we defended well, but it was a tough game," West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo said.
"It's a lot of work, all the aspects of the game we have to work on. This week has been a lot of challenges, a lot of new things and changes. The international break is going to be very useful in terms of settling down the mind and focus," he added.
Arsenal play Fulham on 18 October, Crystal Palace on 26 October and Burnley (away) on 1 November. West Ham United's next opponents are Brentford on 20 October, Leeds United on 24 October and Newcastle United (home) on 2 November.
