Brighton & Hove Albion beat Liverpool in an even affair at The American Express Community Stadium
One goal decided an even game as Brighton & Hove Albion won 2-1 at home to Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.
Brighton started the match best and took the lead when Danny Welbeck netted after 14 minutes, with an assist by Diego Gómez, making it 1-0.
Liverpool equalised to make it 1-1 after half an hour's play as Milos Kerkez found the net.
With 56 minutes on the clock, Brighton's Danny Welbeck found the net following a Jack Hinshelwood assist to seal the win.
"It's not on me to judge this decision. The only thing I can say is that I said afterwards to Danny Welbeck, 'control the controllables', and that's what he did today on the pitch," Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said after the game.
"He created his own record by scoring his 12th goal. The media will go hard on this, but besides that for me even more important for a team is how he functions as a connector," he added.
Brighton & Hove Albion play Burnley on 11 April, Tottenham Hotspur on 18 April and Chelsea (home) on 26 April. Liverpool's next opponents are Fulham on 11 April, Everton on 19 April and Crystal Palace (home) on 25 April.
It leaves Brighton & Hove Albion in 10th place and that Liverpool are in fifth place.
