Fulham keen to end three-game winless run as Leeds visit.
Winless in three games, the Cottagers host Leeds for this weekend’s clash, hoping to pick up their maiden victory of the season. Fulham vs Leeds United begins at 15:00 [GMT+1] on Saturday at Craven Cottage.
Having remained winless in three PL games, the Cottagers take on Leeds hoping to put an end to a torrid start which leaves them in 18th place while having only two points [DDL] following a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out. Fulham will head into this fixture with history on their side. The Cottagers have lost just one of their five home Premier League matches against Leeds (W3 D1), a 2-1 defeat during the 2020/21 season under Scott Parker. Since then, they have found ways to frustrate their Yorkshire opponents on the banks of the Thames, completing a league double over them in 2022/23. Recent clashes between the two clubs have also been high scoring—18 goals have been shared across their last four league meetings, with both sides finding the net on each occasion. However, Marco Silva’s side arrive in need of a spark. Going further back, Fulham have failed to win any of their last four Premier League games (D2 L2), a run they last endured in April 2023. Another failure to win here would mean going winless in their opening four top-flight matches of a season for only the fourth time in their history, following similar starts in 1951/52, 2011/12, and 2020/21. A 4—2—3—1 formation with Rodrigo Muniz in attack may be seen here.
Leeds United, meanwhile, face their own problems on the road. The Whites have lost their last eight Premier League away matches in London, conceding 26 goals in the process. Their last victory in the capital came on the final day of the 2021/22 season, when they beat Brentford. Not since 1925–1930 have Leeds endured a longer losing run in London, when they suffered 12 straight defeats. That record weighs heavily as Daniel Farke’s side prepare for another challenging trip to the capital. While Leeds’ away form is troubling, they do retain attacking threat, and history suggests that goals will not be in short supply at Craven Cottage. Leeds did the league double over Fulham in 2020/21, showing their ability to unlock the London side when given the chance, but their defensive vulnerabilities remain a concern. Fulham will lean on their home record and attacking fluency to end their winless start, while Leeds must defy their London curse if they are to claim three valuable points. A 4—3—3 formation with Lukas Nmecha, Daniel James, and Wilfried Gnonto in attack is expected against the Cottagers.
