Manchester United eager to extend two-game winning run as Brighton visits.
Manchester United vs. Brighton begins at 17:30 [GMT+1] on Saturday, October 25, at Old Trafford.
Manchester United appear to be rediscovering their rhythm thanks to wins over Sunderland and Liverpool. That not only left the Red Devil with back-to-back Premier League victories [LWLWW] for the first time in the Amorim era but also a dramatic climb up the table into 9th place after picking up 13 points. Another success here would make it three in a row — something the club hasn’t managed since early 2024. Encouragingly, United have also won their last three home league matches, matching their total from their previous 13 at Old Trafford. The last time they went on a longer winning run at home was between April and August 2023—a streak that ended, fittingly, with a 3-1 defeat to Brighton. The same side they welcome to Old Trafford in a fixture that has been surprisingly one-sided in recent years — just not in United’s favour. Bruno Fernandes will again be key for Manchester United. Although he has only three goal involvements so far this season, his two goals and one assist have directly contributed to six of United’s points — among the most decisive contributions in the league. Bryan Mbeumo has also enjoyed facing Brighton, having been involved in six goals (three goals, three assists) in his last four starts against them, a record he’ll be eager to extend. Ruben Amorim would be hoping both players make an impact when his side hosts the Seagulls. A 3—4—2—1 formation with Benjamin Sesko in attack is expected against Brighton.
Brighton, meanwhile, remain one of the league’s most unpredictable sides. Recently they picked up a 2-1 win over Newcastle United to hold on to 10th place. While they remain unbeaten in four games, the Seagulls have alternated between a draw and a victory in that many Premier League outings [LDWDW]. In addition, though they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last 20 Premier League games, they’ve only lost twice in their last 13 league outings, winning seven and drawing four. That said, against United, Brighton have plenty to draw inspiration from. Brighton have won each of their last three Premier League away games against Manchester United – the last side to win more consecutive league visits to Old Trafford was Manchester City between 1968 and 1972 (5). It's a line Brighton would be willing to tow when they make the trip to Manchester. Danny Welbeck, who bagged a brace against the Magpies, is expected at the attacking end of Brighton’s 4—2—3—1 setup.
