Three Teams Top Knicks in 2027 Title Odds
Newsroom
The New York Knicks celebrated their NBA championship win, but they are not favored to secure the title again in the upcoming season. According to sportsbooks across the nation, three teams have better odds to win the 2027 NBA championship than the Knicks: the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Boston Celtics. The Knicks are currently listed at +650 at DraftKings.
After a fluctuating regular season, the Knicks entered the playoffs with a 17-1 chance of winning the championship, marking them as the third-biggest long shot to seize the title in the past 50 years, based on data from SportsOddsHistory.com.
The Knicks faced an initial struggle in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks but managed to find their rhythm, winning 15 of their next 16 games to clinch their first championship since 1973. They concluded their impressive run by defeating the favored Spurs in five games during the Finals, establishing a postseason record with a +283 point differential, as reported by ESPN Research.
Despite their recent success, oddsmakers have the Knicks listed behind the Spurs (+250), Thunder (+260), and Celtics (+550) heading into what might be an eventful offseason that could see star player Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially changing teams. Futures market Kalshi indicates that the Miami Heat and Celtics are probable destinations for Antetokounmpo should he leave the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat have odds of 40-1 to win next year’s title at DraftKings, while the Bucks stand at 250-1.
Following the lead teams, the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets are each given odds of 28-1, while the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland Cavaliers are all set at 30-1. The Sacramento Kings currently hold the longest odds for the title, at 1,000-1 according to DraftKings.
