Bryant University, Rhode Island Delegation Meets with GFA

Representatives from Bryant University and the State of Rhode Island visited the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on April 27, 2026, to discuss a collaboration related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This meeting aimed to solidify the partnership as Ghana has chosen Rhode Island as the base for its national team, the Black Stars, during the tournament.

At the meeting, various stakeholders from both organizations engaged in discussions that extended beyond football, focusing on potential investment opportunities, educational partnerships, and strengthening diaspora relations. This partnership was first established in February during a visit by Lady Dentaa Amoateng to Bryant University's campus.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by GUBA to enhance connections between Ghana and its diaspora, creating opportunities in various sectors. During the visit, GUBA facilitated a networking reception, enabling the Rhode Island delegation to connect with notable Ghanaian institutions and industry leaders, including representatives from MTN Ghana and the National Sports Authority.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, described the partnership as strategic, emphasizing the beneficial environment that Bryant University provides for the Black Stars' preparations. Officials from Bryant University shared that their selection as the training camp was made by FIFA, making it a notable choice for Ghana's team.

Ghana will utilize the advanced training, recovery, and wellness facilities available at Bryant University as it prepares for its fifth World Cup appearance. The Black Stars are scheduled to compete against Panama on June 17, 2026, in Toronto, Croatia on June 27, 2026, in Philadelphia, and England on June 23, 2026, in Boston.
