FSU Baseball Triumphs Over North Florida

The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles showcased their strength on Tuesday, defeating the North Florida Ospreys at Harmon Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. With this victory, the Seminoles improved their overall record to 29-11 and 11-6 in ACC play, marking their fifth consecutive win.

The game began with the Seminoles taking the lead in the third inning. Carter McCulley hit a one-out single, which was followed by a double from Brayden Dowd, allowing McCulley to score. The Seminoles extended their lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning when Gabe Fraser reached base with an infield single, and Drew Fisher contributed with a double. Eli Putnam then drove in Fraser with a groundout, but the Seminoles were unable to capitalize further as they loaded the bases but failed to score.

In the sixth inning, FSU managed to increase their lead to 3-0 when Putnam drove in Brody DeLamielleure with a sacrifice fly. North Florida responded in the bottom of the sixth, cutting into the lead after a leadoff batter was hit by a pitch and subsequently doubled, placing two runners in scoring position with no outs. A sacrifice fly brought in one run, but Chase Williams made a crucial play by throwing out a runner attempting to advance to third base, and Cade O'Leary ended the inning with a strikeout.

Putnam continued to shine in the seventh inning, scoring DeLamielleure with a two-out double, finishing the game with one hit and three RBIs. In the ninth inning, Kevin Mebil secured the first outs before giving up a double, prompting FSU to bring in Chris Knier to close the game. Knier successfully struck out the final batter, earning the save.
