Teungueth FC and US Gorée Face Off in Season Opener

Teungueth FC and US Gorée are set to clash in a tactical showdown as the 2025-2026 Senegalese Ligue 1 season kicks off. The match is scheduled for Saturday at 17:00, with Teungueth FC, who finished 11th last season, going against US Gorée, the runners-up to ASC Jaraaf.

At a press conference held by the Ligue sénégalaise de football professionnel (LSFP), both teams' coaches shared their insights ahead of the highly anticipated match. Malick Daf, newly appointed coach of Teungueth FC, emphasized his determination to start the season on a winning note. After winning the championship with ASC Jaraaf last season, Daf has taken the reins at Teungueth FC during the offseason. He stated, "I am a coach who embraces challenges. We are at a stage where we play to win trophies and titles. Last season is behind us; today, I am at a new club with a new project. I am here to work and to win. My priority will be hard work and perseverance."

Daf acknowledged the strength of their opponent, US Gorée, and indicated that he anticipates a well-organized and tactical match. "We will approach this game calmly and serenely. The opponent is solid, well-organized, and has a good coach. It will be a tactical battle between two good teams," he remarked.

On the other side, Olivier Kabou, the assistant coach of US Gorée, expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and goals for the season. "This will be a closely contested match. We have prepared well, including participating in a tournament in Pikine to fine-tune our strategies. We are ready to start the league against a strong team led by an excellent coach," he stated.

Kabou outlined his team’s clear objective for the season: to secure a top position once again. "We aim to impose our game, stay concentrated for 90 minutes, and play leading roles this season. We have learned from our past mistakes and made good signings to strengthen our squad. This match will serve as an excellent gauge of our level," he added.
