Ghanaian teenager Ryan McAidoo won the FA Youth Cup with Manchester City after helping the team defeat rivals Manchester United U18 in the final. A late strike from Reigan Heskey ensured City edged United 2-1 to claim their fifth FA Youth Cup title.
City opened the scoring five minutes before halftime through Floyd Samba's sensational 25-yard free-kick. However, United equalized with a header from Godwill Kukonki, bringing the score to 1-1 before the break. The final took place at Joie Stadium, where City’s first team forward Antoine Semenyo and manager Pep Guardiola were present.
McAidoo played a vital role throughout the tournament, contributing goals in matches against Fulham, Chelsea, and Blackburn Rovers. The talented forward celebrated the victory with his Ghanaian father, who watched the match at the stadium. Although born in England, McAidoo remains eligible to represent Ghana at the senior level.
