PSG Player Misses Training Before UCL Final Against Arsenal
Newsroom
Enrique Ousmane Dembele missed a Paris Saint-Germain training session ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal, as reported by The Standard on May 20, 2026. Two other players, Willian Pacho and Nuno Mendes, returned for the training session. Pacho and Mendes had not featured for PSG since the Champions League semi-final second leg, which ended in a draw against Bayern Munich on May 6. Consequently, the defensive duo missed PSG’s subsequent three matches, including a pivotal 2-0 victory over Lens that secured the Ligue 1 title. On the training grounds, just ten days prior to the final in Budapest, they aimed to demonstrate their fitness for the clash with the Gunners. However, Achraf Hakimi and Dembele were absent from this session. Hakimi has been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the first leg of the match against Bayern, which PSG won 5-4. He has been engaging in individual training and is expected to return for the Champions League final. In contrast, Dembele was forced to leave the field during PSG's defeat to Paris FC the previous Sunday. Though he showed signs of struggling with a suspected calf injury, PSG coach Luis Enrique eased concerns about the potential severity of his condition.
