Sally Bolton to Step Down as Chief of All England Club

Sally Bolton announced she will step down as the chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) after Wimbledon, concluding a six-year tenure. Bolton became the first female chief executive of the All England Club when she was appointed in December 2019, succeeding Richard Lewis. The 51-year-old was in charge during Wimbledon’s return after the tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

The AELTC stated that financial director Richard Atkinson will serve in the role on an interim basis while a new chief executive is selected. "I am proud of what we have achieved together - particularly bringing the Championships back following the pandemic and in shaping a clear path for the future," Bolton remarked. She emphasized the significance of the All England Club, expressing her anticipation for its continued success in the years to come.

Bolton also supported the AELTC's plans to expand the Wimbledon site and managed the tournament's evolution from a 13-day to a 14-day event in 2022, which included play on middle Sunday. Deborah Jevans, chair of the All England Club, expressed her gratitude, stating, "I’d like to thank Sally for her hard work and dedication over that time and commend her for guiding the organisation through a period of significant change."

Wimbledon is scheduled to take place from Monday, 28 June to Sunday, 12 July.
