Junior Springbok coach Kevin Foote expressed satisfaction following the U20 Rugby Championship opener against Argentina, where South Africa secured a decisive victory. The match, held at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, ended with a comfortable score of 48-21 in favor of the Junior Boks, reflecting a combination of aggressive attack and solid defense that pleased the local crowd in Gqeberha.

Foote highlighted the team's intent to pursue an exciting style of rugby. "We never want to stop the guys from expressing themselves, and our journey is just starting now," he remarked. The Junior Boks demonstrated a high-tempo game while maintaining a gritty defensive stance, particularly effective during the initial phases of the match.

Riley Norton, the South African U20 captain, led the defensive efforts that kept the Argentine side at bay for much of the first hour. After the match, he praised his team’s resilience and character, saying, "It comes down to the heart that each player has." Norton acknowledged Argentina’s competitive spirit, noting that they fought hard throughout the match.

Among the standout players, inside centre Ethan Adams made significant contributions with two tries, showcasing his physicality on the field. Additionally, Jack Benade marked his debut with a hat-trick of tries, further underscoring the team's attacking prowess.

Argentina has yet to score in the tournament. The Junior Boks will next face Australia on Sunday at 16:10, after Australia suffered a narrow defeat to New Zealand (34-29) in their opening match.
