Itzulia Women 2026 Route Unveiled

The highly anticipated route for the fifth edition of the Itzulia Women was officially unveiled in Zarautz on April 22. Scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17, this year's race promises to deliver three days of intense competition as the Women's WorldTour peloton navigates the rugged landscapes of the Basque Country.
The race will cover a total distance of 372.4 kilometers, starting in Zarautz and culminating in Donostia (San Sebastián). Cyclists will face a formidable challenge with 14 major climbs scattered throughout the stages, particularly on the third day, which features the most demanding terrain.
Stage Breakdown
Stage 1: Zarautz - Zarautz (121.3km)
The opening stage kicks off in Zarautz, marking the first time this town hosts a stage of the women's race. Riders will encounter six significant climbs, totaling 2,239 meters of elevation gain. Key climbs include Kalbario, Alkarate, and Etumeta, with the stage concluding with a flat run to the finish line after a steep descent.
Stage 2: Abadiño - Amorebieta-Etxano (131.7km)
The second stage is the toughest in terms of elevation, featuring 2,474 meters of climbing. This stage includes five classified climbs, with the final two climbs expected to play a crucial role in determining the overall standings. Stage 3: Donostia - Donostia (113.1km)
