Kaze Remarks on Chiefs’ League Performance Amid Improvement

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze acknowledged his side’s improvement in the Betway Premiership but expressed that a club of their stature deserves better results. Last season, the disparity between the league winners, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Amakhosi, who finished ninth, was a substantial 41 points.

However, Kaze noted that this season the third-placed Chiefs are merely 14 points behind the current leaders, the Brazilians, and have successfully qualified for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. He remarked that his team performed well during their league campaign until midseason, and although he is pleased with the enhancement in their points tally, he believes Chiefs should aim for even greater heights.

Kaze mentioned, “Yeah, I would say that the league this season had no dominating team. Everyone was competing, and I believe we were very close until probably late January. It serves as a lesson that we learned about what we could have done differently to remain close to the local leaders.”

He further added, “If you consider the difference in points that we have now compared to previous seasons, it’s true that there is a significant difference, but this team deserves better things.”
