Fairclough shines in GB3 at Silverstone; Bedrin holds lead

Fairclough kicked off the second half of the GB3 Championship season with two poles and a double victory at Silverstone last weekend. After a challenging start to his campaign left him 10th in the standings, Fairclough transformed his fortunes with a standout performance.

In the opening race, Fairclough made a strong start but initially fell behind Martin Molnar (Rodin), who took advantage of an early safety car period. Molnar overtook Fairclough at Village, prompting him to defend aggressively. However, Fairclough quickly regained the lead at Club on the next lap. Despite pressure from Molnar later in the race, Fairclough secured his second win of the season. "In all honesty I didn’t expect it," he said of his winning move. "It’s nice to be back on top. It’s not my championship to lose anymore, so it’s maximum attack."

Nikita Bedrin, the championship leader, faced difficulties in qualifying but recovered to finish eighth. He noted that mechanical issues during testing affected his preparation, causing a lack of pace in qualifying.

Fairclough's second victory saw him fend off challengers, specifically Rowan Campbell-Pilling, leading from start to finish. Molnar had a brief challenge but slipped to fourth, while Fairclough's teammate Lucas Fluxa finished third.

In the final race of the weekend, Italian Formula 4 winner Edu Robinson, making his GB3 debut, started from pole but was overtaken by VRD’s Rodrigo Gonzalez. Jacob Micallef of Hitech, who dropped back early, managed a remarkable move to take second place and later won after passing Gonzalez on the last lap.

Despite tough circumstances, Bedrin retained his championship lead with 103 points, staying clear of Molnar, who finished 12th. Fairclough’s solid results moved him up two spots to 10th as he navigated the demanding race weekend.
