Osimhen Scores Twice, Galatasaray Takes Super Lig Lead

Victor Osimhen scored two goals to lead Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Intercontinental Derby, advancing the team to the top spot in the Turkish Super Lig. The Nigeria international found the net in both halves of the match, helping to maintain Galatasaray's title aspirations and extending their unbeaten streak against Fenerbahce to five consecutive league encounters.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing a well-coordinated attacking move after receiving a pass from Baris Alper Yilmaz. He demonstrated composure in the penalty area, placing his shot into the bottom corner and putting Galatasaray ahead. Five minutes before halftime, he added a second goal, redirecting a shot from Davinson Sanchez into the net in the 44th minute, giving his team a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Following the intermission, Osimhen remained a threat, and Galatasaray sought to solidify their advantage. As the match progressed, they came close to increasing their lead through Ismail Jakobs, whose header hit the woodwork. In the 62nd minute, however, Fenerbahce responded with Irfan Can Kahveci scoring a stunning bicycle kick to bring the score to 2-1, injecting new life into the match. This set up a tense conclusion, with Fenerbahce on the hunt for an equaliser and Galatasaray needing to defend their lead.

Despite the pressure, Galatasaray held on for all three points, marking their fourth win in five matches across all competitions and moving them back to the top of the Super Lig. Osimhen’s contributions went beyond scoring; he registered seven shots with three on target and completed seven of his ten passes. His performance in this significant derby highlighted his crucial role in Galatasaray's pursuit of another league title. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce fell to fifth place, struggling with only one win in their last four league outings.
