Newsroom

India left-arm spinner Shree Charani achieved the No. 1 rank in T20I bowling for the first time in her career, surpassing England's Linsey Smith. Charani, who made her debut for India in April 2025, currently leads as the top wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup, having secured 10 wickets across three matches. Her impressive performances include 3 for 21 against Pakistan and 4 for 19 against the Netherlands, and she remained the best bowler for India in their match against South Africa with figures of 3 for 24.
Charani's ascent in the rankings is significant as she has recorded 38 wickets in her 23 T20I games at an economy of 7.32. Following her rise, Linsey Smith has dropped to third place due to a slower start in the T20 World Cup, while her teammate Charlie Dean is now ranked No. 2 after taking five wickets across three matches. Other notable gains in the T20I bowling rankings include Sophie Ecclestone moving to fourth position and Hayley Matthews, Kim Garth, Fatima Sana, and Orla Prendergast also seeing advancements in their ranks.
In terms of batting, Australia's Georgia Voll maintains her No. 1 spot despite scoring only 62 runs in three matches during the T20 World Cup. India's Shafali Verma climbed to sixth place, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur advanced to tenth. The allrounders' list remains unchanged at the top, still led by Matthews, followed by New Zealand's captain Melie Kerr.
