Davante Adams Faces Extended Absence as Rams Ink Injury Problems

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to miss six to ten weeks due to a serious hamstring injury, as confirmed by coach Sean McVay on Monday, October 19, 2026. The Rams, who hold a 2-4 record, are also contending with other injury setbacks, including veteran defensive tackle Poona Ford, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn triceps, and defensive tackle Kobie Turner, who is headed to injured reserve due to a groin issue.

Adams sustained the injury during a non-contact play late in the Rams' 18-16 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals. He pulled up while in the end zone on the second-to-last offensive snap, subsequently limping off the field. In his 13th NFL season, the 33-year-old has recorded 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns. Last season, he led the NFL in touchdown catches but missed three late-season games because of a hamstring issue before returning for the playoffs.

McVay acknowledged the significance of Adams' absence, stating, "It's significant when you don't have a player like Davante, but we have to be able to adjust. His contributions can't be measured. You don't replace somebody like him, and so what you've got to do is you've got to be able to figure out what's the next right thing? What does that look like in terms of our vision? We'll have to adjust and adapt."

With Adams' departure, the Rams' depth at wide receiver is noticeably limited, leaving All-Pro wideout Puka Nacua as one of the few reliable options. Currently, Konata Mumpfield sits third among the Rams' wide receivers this season, having notched eight receptions for 127 yards. Last year, a similar lack of reliable secondary receivers resulted in quarterback Matthew Stafford targeting those players less than any other playoff-bound starting quarterback.

In addition to the losses, Rams coach McVay indicated that Ford, who logged just under 40% of the team’s defensive snaps this term, and Turner, with 22 tackles this season, will both miss a handful of games going forward. Furthermore, new kicker Blake Grupe also faces a season-ending injury after tearing a knee ligament during a tackle on kickoff coverage, necessitating the recruitment of a third kicker before the upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

On a positive note, coach McVay mentioned that star cornerback Trent McDuffie is "feeling much better" after sustaining a practice injury late the previous week, keeping him out of the recent game. A decision regarding McDuffie's availability against the Raiders will be made later in the week.
