Australia won the toss and decided to bat against Bangladesh in the second T20I in Chattogram. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh made the decision, looking to wrap up the series after winning the first match by four wickets. Bangladesh captain Towhid Hridoy had also chosen to bat first in the first game.
In response, Bangladesh made two changes to their lineup, resting Shoriful Islam and Mahedi Hasan while bringing in fast bowler Nahid Rana and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. This marked Rana's second T20I after debuting against UAE more than a year ago. Hridoy continued to lead the team in the absence of the injured Litton Das.
Australia made one change, recalling allrounder Aaron Hardie in place of Xavier Bartlett, which aimed to strengthen their batting lineup. This was Hardie's first international appearance since playing against South Africa in August of the previous year. Consequently, spin-bowling allrounders Nikhil Chaudhary and Joel Davies were given another opportunity to showcase their skills after they made their debuts in the opening game.
The current standing in the series is in favor of Australia, who leads 1-0 after their victory in the first match. The lineups for the teams were as follows:
Bangladesh: 1. Saif Hassan, 2. Tanzid Hasan, 3. Soumya Sarkar, 4. Parvez Hossain Emon (wk), 5. Tawhid Hridoy (capt), 6. Shamim Hossain, 7. Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, 8. Rishad Hossain, 9. Nasum Ahmed, 10. Mustafizur Rahman, 11. Nahid Rana
Australia: 1. Mitchell Marsh (capt), 2. Josh Inglis (wk), 3. Cooper Connolly, 4. Matt Renshaw, 5. Tim David, 6. Nikhil Chaudhary, 7. Joel Davies, 8. Aaron Hardie, 9. Nathan Ellis, 10. Adam Zampa, 11. Spencer Johnson
