Sundowns Star and Durban City Midfielder Suspended for MTN8 Quarters

Mamelodi Sundowns and Durban City faced significant challenges ahead of the MTN8 quarter-finals set to commence over the weekend. The competition was scheduled to kick off with Orlando Pirates against Cape Town City at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday at 15:00.

Later that evening, Sundowns prepared to host Polokwane City at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off set for 18:00. However, Sundowns experienced a notable setback concerning their striker Brayan Leon, who was suspended after receiving four yellow cards last season. His absence was considered crucial as Leon had quickly become an integral player after joining the club in May and had a commendable debut campaign, netting 15 goals and assisting twice across 26 appearances in all competitions.

Similarly, Durban City was unable to field Kyle Jurgens, a key midfielder who had impressed during his loan with the club last season. Jurgens secured a permanent move due to his influential performances in their successful campaign.

Both clubs aimed to overcome these obstacles as they sought advancement in the MTN8 tournament.
