Valverde Receives Stitches After Confrontation with Tchouaméni

Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde received stitches after a physical altercation with teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni, marking the second confrontation between the two players in two days. This incident further contributed to the turmoil engulfing the club. Following a fight during training, blood was spilled, and Valverde required medical attention, prompting an emergency meeting among the squad and the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against both players.

The altercation stemmed from an earlier argument on Wednesday during training, where tensions escalated into a confrontation in the dressing room. Teammates intervened to prevent further escalation as the two players pushed each other. The following day, a fight broke out, resulting in Valverde falling and injuring his head, which required stitches at Hospital Blua Sanitas Valdebebas.

Valverde accused Tchouaméni of leaking details of their previous dispute, which escalated when he refused to shake Tchouaméni’s hand upon arriving at training. Tchouaméni denied the allegations, but Valverde persisted, leading to the scuffle.

Real Madrid later confirmed the opening of disciplinary proceedings, stating, "Real Madrid confirm that, following the incident that occurred this morning in the first-team training session, it has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against our players, Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. The club will communicate the conclusions at the appropriate time, once the relevant internal proceedings are complete."

The club’s medical department reported that Valverde was diagnosed with head trauma and advised to rest for 10 to 14 days. In an Instagram statement, Valverde clarified, "At no point did my team-mate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either... I feel that my anger about the situation... pushed me to the point of arguing with a team-mate."

As Real Madrid prepares for a crucial match against Barcelona, they face the prospect of finishing the season without a trophy, with the dressing room divided and the team's performance having significantly deteriorated.

Previously, interim coach Álvaro Arbeloa was confirmed not to continue in his role, as other incidents within the squad, including confrontations involving other players, further strained relationships ahead of a vital clásico match on Sunday. If Real Madrid does not win against Barcelona, their rivals will be crowned champions, marking another difficult chapter for the club.
