Trabzonspor Proceeds with Transfer Talks for Mohamed Salah

Turkish club Trabzonspor has commenced negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah. The 34-year-old Egyptian forward exited Liverpool at the conclusion of last season and is currently in talks to join Trabzonspor as a free agent.

In an official statement, Trabzonspor announced that Salah is expected to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday. The club noted, "The player is planned to reach Trabzon in the evening of the same day." Details regarding the welcome event in Trabzon are set to be shared with the public through the club's official channels.

Trabzonspor, nicknamed the Black Sea Storm, boasts seven league titles, with six of those victories recorded between 1976 and 1984. Their latest league triumph came in 2022, concluding a 38-year title drought. Located in Trabzon, in the northeastern region of Turkey, the club is among the only six teams to have ever won the Turkish Super Lig.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in June 2017 and achieved significant success during his nine-year tenure at the club. He contributed to Liverpool’s collection of honors, which includes two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two EFL Cups, along with the Community Shield. Notably, he secured the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions and claimed the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award three times in 2018, 2022, and 2025. Throughout his time with the Reds, Salah scored a remarkable total of 257 goals and provided 120 assists in 442 appearances. Additionally, he was part of the Egyptian national team that made it to the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup before being eliminated by finalists Argentina, with a score of 3-2.
