Gary Neville Slams Chelsea's Management After Rosenior Sacking

Gary Neville has launched a scathing attack on Chelsea's management, labeling the club's owners as 'clueless' after the recent sacking of head coach Liam Rosenior. The dismissal came just days after Chelsea suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Brighton, marking their fifth consecutive loss in the Premier League without scoring a single goal.

Rosenior, who was appointed on a six-and-a-half-year contract in January, lasted only 107 days in charge before being shown the door. Neville, a Manchester United legend, expressed his disbelief at the club's decision-making process, stating that the owners, known as BlueCo, seem to lack a coherent strategy. "This policy at Chelsea, this plan, I don't see it," Neville told Sky Sports. "These six and eight-year agreements that they give - it's almost laughable from the start, whether it be for a manager or a player."

He further criticized the chaotic nature of the club's management, suggesting that the owners are out of touch with the realities of football. "You deserve what you get in football and that's every single ownership, and it's a reflection upon them, not the coach," he added.

Neville also pointed fingers at players Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella, who he believes played a role in undermining Rosenior. Fernandez had previously expressed his discontent with the club's decision to sack former manager Enzo Maresca, while Cucurella questioned the timing of the managerial change, suggesting it had a significant impact on the squad's morale.

"Cucurella and Fernandez are experienced players, probably the only two experienced players Chelsea have got, stitching him up in the last few weeks by calling out the fact they basically love Maresca," Neville remarked. "Well, they weren't doing that well under him. I think Maresca is a fine coach as well."

Rosenior's tenure was marked by a series of disappointing results, leaving Chelsea's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League hanging by a thread. The club currently sits seventh in the Premier League, seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Neville concluded that Rosenior may have been thrust into the role too quickly, suggesting that he should have been allowed more time to develop as a coach. "He probably shouldn't have been advanced into the role as quickly as he was," he said. "You don't turn down the Chelsea job. You don't turn down a big job like that and I can see why it was appealing."

Chelsea released a statement confirming Rosenior's departure, thanking him for his efforts and professionalism during his brief tenure. The club acknowledged that the decision was not taken lightly but was necessary due to recent performances and results.
