NPFL Aims for May 24 Completion of 2025/26 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced that the 2025/26 season is set to conclude on May 24, 2026. This timeline has been established to ensure a smooth finish to the season, reflecting the league's commitment to maintaining operational integrity and avoiding the disruptions that have plagued previous seasons.

During this weekend, NPFL clubs will observe a break as they participate in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Cup window. Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, emphasized that this break was strategically planned at the beginning of the season to facilitate seamless operations. He stated, "We synergized with the NFF Competitions Department at the start of the season to create windows for the Federation Cup. It has been in effect since January and we are running our calendar as designed."

Owumi further highlighted the importance of fixture fidelity, noting that it required extensive planning and cooperation from all clubs involved. The NPFL has made a concerted effort to ensure that match schedules are adhered to, which is crucial for the league's credibility and the teams' preparations.

As part of the upcoming schedule, Matchdays 36 and 37 are set to take place on May 3 and May 10, respectively. Following these matches, another window for the President Federation Cup will be observed on May 16 and 17. The final matches of the season will culminate on Sunday, May 24, marking the end of the league's campaign.
