Rockets Struggle in NBA Playoffs Against Lakers

The Houston Rockets are currently facing a daunting challenge in the NBA playoffs, as they find themselves on the brink of elimination after losing their first two games against the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite a strong regular season with 52 wins, the Rockets have struggled to find their rhythm in the postseason, leading to widespread criticism of their performance.

In Game 2, the Rockets suffered a disappointing 101-94 loss to a Lakers team that was missing two of its top scorers, Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. This defeat has left Houston down 0-2 in the series, raising questions about their mental toughness and offensive capabilities. "We needed a win today, but it happens. It’s a long series," said Rockets center Alperen Şengün, expressing hope for a turnaround in the upcoming games.

Throughout the season, the Rockets have been criticized for their offensive struggles, particularly in high-pressure situations. Although they showed some improvement late in the regular season, their performance against the Lakers has been dismal. In fact, they have recorded two of the worst offensive outings in this year’s playoffs, raising concerns about their ability to compete at this level.

Kevin Durant's return for Game 2 was anticipated to boost the Rockets' performance, but instead, the team’s offensive woes worsened. Despite scoring 23 points, Durant turned the ball over nine times, a career-high for him in the playoffs. The Lakers employed a defensive strategy that effectively neutralized Durant, trapping him at the top of the key and limiting his ability to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.

The Rockets' offensive struggles were further highlighted by their poor shooting percentage from beyond the arc, hitting only 29% of their three-point attempts in the series. This lack of shooting efficiency has compounded their difficulties, especially against a Lakers team that has proven to be resilient despite their injuries.

One of the key players for the Rockets, Alperen Şengün, has not lived up to expectations in the series.
