Chippa United sacked head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi just hours after their 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026. This publication has confirmed that Chippa released Vilakazi following the latest defeat against Sekhukhune, which occurred after The Chilli Boys suffered a significant 5-1 loss to AmaZulu. Vilakazi, referred to as 'Kanu', has already informed his technical team and players about his departure from the club with immediate effect.

The Chilli Boys currently sit in 13th place with 24 points after 27 matches, only two points above the relegation playoff spot.
