Drawing Pots for 2027 AFCON Qualifiers Confirmed

The Confederation of African Football revealed the drawing pots and details of the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The draw took place in Egypt at 14:00 SAST, with Bafana Bafana placed in pot 1 alongside the continent's strongest nations.
A total of 48 teams participated in the qualifiers, with the draw producing 12 groups, and 24 teams qualified for the finals. The top two from each group qualified, and in groups containing the co-hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, an additional team qualified.
The highly anticipated draw was conducted by African football greats Max-Alain Gradel from Côte d'Ivoire, William Troost-Ekong from Nigeria, Essam El Hadary from Egypt, and Trésor Mputu from the DR Congo.

The tournament was scheduled to be played from 19 June to 17 July 2027 and marked the long-awaited return of the continental showpiece to East Africa for the first time in 51 years, with Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania acting as co-hosts.
