Giolito leads Padres to a 2-0 victory over Athletics

Lucas Giolito and four relievers pitched the San Diego Padres to a 2-0 win over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night. The game featured a combined five-hitter by Giolito and the bullpen, resulting in the Padres extending their winning streak to six out of eight games.
Fernando Tatis Jr. and Ty France each contributed to the score by driving in a run. Despite the Padres managing only two hits throughout the game, they capitalized on six walks issued by Athletics starter J.T. Ginn. Ginn, who five days earlier had nearly pitched a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Angels, only lasted 2 1/3 innings in this matchup.
In his previous game, Ginn entered the ninth inning with a no-hitter but fell short after allowing a leadoff single to Adam Frazier and a two-run homer to Zach Neto resulting in a loss. On this occasion, he struggled with control, issuing six walks and hitting Tatis with a pitch when the bases were loaded in the second inning.
