This analysis surfaced as the Braves maintained a commanding lead in the National League East and approached the August 3 trade deadline with few critical needs. However, given their current roster composition, the Braves should consider enhancing their shortstop position.

Pena, despite being seen as a long shot for a trade, is considered an ideal target for the Braves this summer. Rymer remarked, "This might be the biggest long-shot on this list. A team with World Series aspirations deserves a better shortstop, and Pena is probably the best the Braves can feasibly get this summer."

Although the Braves could greatly benefit from acquiring Pena, the likelihood of a trade remains low. The Astros are hesitant to enter into trade talks, especially considering that Pena is under club control until 2027.
