Fadlu Davids Negotiates with Young Africans for Coaching Role

Fadlu Davids, the former coach of Orlando Pirates, Simba SC, and Raja Club Athletic, is currently in discussions with Tanzanian football club Young Africans regarding the head coach position. According to sources at iDiski Times, Young Africans have approached Davids to fill the head coach role ahead of the new season, and have already presented an offer to him, leaving the decision in his hands.

Davids previously managed Simba SC during the 2024/25 season, where he led the team to a strong finish, ending the campaign just four points behind Young Africans. The season concluded dramatically for Simba, as they missed the league title on the final day, succumbing to Young Africans in a decisive match that secured the championship for Yanga. Despite this setback, Davids received widespread acclaim for revitalizing the Simba squad, transforming them into serious title contenders, and guiding them to the CAF Confederation Cup final, where they were narrowly defeated by RS Berkane.

In the 2025/26 season, Davids returned to Morocco to coach Raja Athletic Club, where he had achieved an impressive unbeaten double under former head coach Josef Zinnbauer. However, his time at Raja came to an early end after he suffered consecutive losses in late May, even as the team remained in contention for the Botola Pro title.

Davids' potential return to Tanzania could raise eyebrows, particularly since Young Africans are known to be fierce rivals of his former team, Simba, which is currently led by coach Steve Barker. Young Africans initiated the current season under the guidance of Portuguese manager Pedro Gonçalves, who was appointed in late 2025 after the tenure of Romain Folz. At present, Abdihamid Moallin, the club's technical director, is serving as the interim coach.

As of now, Young Africans sit atop the NBC Premier League standings and require only a draw in their final match to secure their 27th league title. They are scheduled to face JKT Tanzania, who are currently positioned sixth in the league, away from home in their concluding game.
