AC Milan denies death rumors about Baresi

AC Milan denied rumors regarding the death of legendary captain and honorary vice president Franco Baresi, who is 66 years old. The club issued a statement addressing false messages circulating on social media about Baresi's passing. Baresi had previously revealed in August 2025 that he underwent surgery to remove a pulmonary nodule and began a course of immunotherapy.

On the evening of July 29, 2026, rumors proliferated online stating that the former defender had died, prompting the club to take immediate action to clarify the situation. The statement released by Milan stated, "AC Milan denies the false reports concerning Franco Baresi that have begun circulating in recent minutes. Franco is going through a difficult and delicate time, and the Club stands firmly alongside him and his family. We urge everyone to respect their privacy and refrain from spreading entirely unfounded information."

Baresi's impressive career spanned from 1977 to 1997, during which he remained loyal to AC Milan, playing 716 competitive matches, and contributing 33 goals and 24 assists. His achievements include winning three Champions League trophies, six Serie A titles, two Intercontinental Cups, three European Supercups, and the Supercoppa Italiana on four occasions.
