Tobi Amusan, Nigeria's sprint hurdling star and world 100m hurdles record holder, arrived at the Team Nigeria camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Thursday, July 17, 2026, to a warm welcome as preparations began for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Amusan exuded confidence about Team Nigeria's potential at the Games, highlighting the well-organized training arrangements facilitated by the National Sports Commission (NSC). Kola Daniel, the NSC Director General Bukola Olopade's Special Assistant on Media, conveyed Amusan's sentiments. The sprinter, who is considered one of Nigeria's strongest medal prospects, expressed optimism that she would contribute to her nation's medal tally at the Games.

"I am optimistic that Team Nigeria will haul medals at these Games, judging by the expressions on the faces of my fellow athletes and the atmosphere in camp. With God on our side, we hope to finish among the best at the end of the Games," Kola Daniel quoted Amusan.

The NSC has set up Team Nigeria at a high-performance training facility in Aberdeen, aiming to provide the athletes with world-class preparation before the competition starts.
