Kaizer Jr Explains Chiefs' Pre-Season Camp in Spain

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. revealed the reasons behind the club’s decision to hold their pre-season camp in Spain ahead of the new campaign. Amakhosi returned to South Africa earlier this week after a period of intensive preparations abroad.

Motaung explained that the trip aimed to expose the team to a new environment, facilitate the new technical team’s integration, and incorporate the club’s new signings. He believes the camp was successful in achieving its objectives as Chiefs continue to build towards the upcoming season.

“The idea of the camp in Spain was about taking the team away from home to experience a different environment with unfamiliar conditions, integrating the new technical team, and also working on induction details for getting the team ready for the season,” stated Motaung Jr. on Chiefs’ website. “Playing practice matches against opponents from various leagues around the world proved worthwhile in helping the team adapt to different styles of play and, with the help of our mental coach who worked on the psychological aspects of the game and team-building exercises, we achieved all of our intended goals.”

Chiefs supporters will get their first chance to watch the team in action when Amakhosi face Zimbabwean side Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup on 26 July at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
