Rulani Achieves Success at Pyramids with Two Wins

Rulani Mokwena masterminded two victories for Pyramids FC during their pre-season camp in Turkey, ahead of the 2026/27 Egyptian Premier League. The 39-year-old coach joined Pyramids in July 2026 after a brief stint at Libyan club Al Ittihad SC, where he was at the helm for just four months.

Last week, Pyramids defeated Turkish Süper Lig side Alanyaspor 2-0, with both goals coming from Mahmoud Zalaka in the 15th minute and Ahmed Atef, who secured victory with a goal in the 71st minute. The following day, Pyramids displayed a strong performance against Kuwaiti Arab Club, claiming a 3-1 win in their second pre-season match.

Abdulrahman Majdi opened the scoring for Pyramids, followed by a second goal from Ahmed Atef. Lastly, Mostafa Zico, who notably scored against Argentina in the Pharaohs' 3-2 loss during the 2026 FIFA World Cup's Last 16, added the third goal as Pyramids continued to prepare for the upcoming season.

Since leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, Mokwena has engaged in three short coaching roles. He initially joined Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club, followed by Alger before moving to Ittihad. Pyramids finished second in the 2025/26 Egyptian league, trailing Zamalek SC, which qualifies them for the upcoming CAF Champions League, while Al Ahly will miss out following a disappointing season finishing in third.
