Kane: This Is England's Best Opportunity To Win World Cup

Harry Kane, captain of the England national team, stated that this is the country’s best chance to win the World Cup. Coming off a remarkable 2025-26 season with Bayern Munich, in which he scored over 60 goals across all competitions, Kane expressed confidence in England's prospects. In an interview with ITV, he highlighted the squad’s blend of talent, which includes players like Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, as pivotal in possibly ending the 60-year trophy drought for England.
Kane shared his thoughts, saying, "This is my third tournament now, the shape I’m in and also coming off the season I’ve had, it’s probably the best opportunity I’ll have maybe in my whole career to win the World Cup. We haven’t won in an England shirt for 60 years, we’ve been extremely close and knocking on that door. But now it’s time to step over that line."
He acknowledged the unpredictability of football, noting, "This tournament always could be your last. I want to play for a long time, I feel as good as I’ve ever felt – I feel in my prime. But you never know what’s around the corner with injuries."
Kane, who holds the record for the most knockout goals scored by a European player in both the World Cup and Euros, also reflected on potential personal milestones during the tournament. He said, "The one for me would be amazing, but I’m a little bit far away at the moment. It’s the most World Cup goals (Miroslav Klose, 16). But maybe the most World Cup goals by an English player. It’s 10 by Gary Lineker, and I’m on 8 right now. So if I have a good World Cup, I’ll be able to pass Lineker in that aspect."
