Liverpool backs Slot with new appointment; Everton needs summer boost

Liverpool has made strides toward appointing Etiënne Reijnen to the coaching team, a move that signifies the club's backing of Slot amidst these challenges. Confirming Reijnen's potential departure, Feyenoord's technical director, Dennis te Kloese, remarked, "Reijnen is simply a very talented young coach. He doesn’t just go abroad to work for no reason." Slot, while not directly addressing the situation, acknowledged a high regard for Reijnen, stating, "It is fair to say that I have worked with him before and I have a very high regard for him in terms of the coach he is."

In the lead-up to the final match against Brentford, Slot refrained from commenting on Mohamed Salah's critical social media post, which emerged amid discontent concerning the team's style of play. Slot emphasized the importance of securing a Champions League spot, identifying it as critical for establishing a solid foundation for the following season.

Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes expressed the necessity for a "big summer" to enhance the club's ambition and competitiveness. Moyes acknowledged feelings of despondency regarding the team's performance at the season's end, which highlighted deficiencies in the squad and dashed hopes of European qualification. He asserted, "It’s shown it only takes a couple of your better players to lose form and your results can change.”
