Update on gymnast Gabriel Langton after Commonwealth Games fall

England's gymnast Gabriel Langton has been released from the hospital following a serious fall during the men's team gymnastics final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The 19-year-old athlete landed on his head after falling from the horizontal bar, prompting a halt to the competition as medical teams rushed to assist him.

Langton received medical care on the floor for several minutes before being taken away on a stretcher, wearing a head brace. Team England issued a statement indicating that he was taken to the hospital as a precaution and underwent multiple scans, all of which returned very positive results.

The statement read, "Thankfully, he has been cleared of any serious injury complications and will be discharged to return to the team hotel this evening. He is in good spirits and hugely grateful for the many messages of support and the excellent care provided by the medical teams. He is looking forward to being reunited with the team to celebrate his silver medal."

Langton was later photographed with his medal at the team hotel, but the incident overshadowed the remainder of the competition, with England ultimately claiming silver behind Canada. Australia secured bronze, marking their first men's team gymnastics medal since winning gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Langton had been added to the squad to replace the injured six-time Olympic medallist Max Whitlock, and due to his fall, he was unable to fully celebrate his team's success. Teammate Luke Whitehouse commented on the incident, stating, "From what we've heard, he's doing OK. Gymnastics is such a dangerous sport and things like this remind us of that. It's one of those things you have to put out of your mind."
