Norwegian Federation Seeks FIFA Clarification on Trump Peace Prize
Newsroom

The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) sought clarification from FIFA regarding the conditions under which Gianni Infantino awarded a "peace prize" to Donald Trump, as announced by its president on Tuesday, June 2. This initiative by the Norwegian federation aimed to support FairSquare, a human rights organization that had approached the same commission in December, accusing the head of global football of failing in his "duty of neutrality."
During the draw for the 2026 World Cup in December in Washington, Gianni Infantino presented a "FIFA Peace Prize" to the American president, who has openly expressed his desire to win the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, a dream which remains unfulfilled. The criteria for awarding this newly established prize have never been clarified by FIFA. Mandated in this respect by its general assembly, the Norwegian federation sent its letter on Monday, as specified by NFF president Lise Klaveness, who requested that it be handled with transparency.
