Stellenbosch FC Close to Signing Kabelo Dlamini from Pirates
Newsroom
Stellenbosch FC made significant progress towards finalizing the acquisition of Kabelo Dlamini from Orlando Pirates, in a deal that appears to involve a swap between the two teams. iDiski Times reported that negotiations are ongoing, and Stellenbosch is close to securing the signing of Dlamini, which could also lead to Faiz Abrahams and Dublin Boon transferring to the Buccaneers.
Kabelo Dlamini has spent six seasons with Orlando Pirates, featuring in 187 matches across all competitions, where he scored 21 goals and contributed 23 assists. During his time with Pirates, he won one league title, four MTN8 trophies, one Carling Knockout, and two Nedbank Cups.
On the other side, Faiz Abrahams previously played overseas while on loan at Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel, where he participated in 11 matches, netting three goals and providing three assists. However, following six months abroad, Abrahams returned to South Africa after going AWOL from his loan club. In order to terminate the loan, Stellies needed to pay a fee to avoid the prospect of Abrahams facing a ban due to a breach of contract.
Upon his return to Stellenbosch FC under coach Hunt, the 21-year-old Abrahams only made three appearances, but he remains highly regarded for his speed and potential, having won the Africa Cup of Nations with the U20 national team that participated in the DStv Diski Challenge.
Additionally, goalkeeper Dublin Boon, who has yet to make his professional debut, is also involved in this potential deal with Pirates. Boon joined Stellenbosch last season as a reserve goalkeeper in the DStv Diski Challenge. The outcome of the ongoing talks could finalize the swap soon.
